What does ECO really mean

Fructal has a line of BIO Frutek products, too, which we are especially proud of.

The offer of foods with labels such as bio, eco and organic has become really rich in recent years. Fructal has a line of BIO Frutek products, too, which we are especially proud of, because they are characterized by truly top-quality organic ingredients, verified by the acquired ecological certificate.

When buying ecological products, we need to pay particular attention to labels. We need to see if the food holds the code of the supervisory authority issuing certificates because the certificate is an official document issued by the control organization. It certifies the compliance of the production, processing, packaging, storage and transport of organic products, foodstuffs and fodder with the applicable regulations for organic agriculture.

In Slovenia, the certificate is issued by one of the organizations authorized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Nutrition, and accredited by the Slovenian Accreditation. Products that hold an ecological certificate can carry the European Union organic production logo. The shape and color of the logo are stipulated and are similar to a green leaf with white stars that can also be black and white. Below the logo there is usually the code of the supervisory authority issuing the certificates. If the organic production logo of the European Union is used, the origin of production of raw materials of agricultural origin is indicated in the same field of view. So below the EU logo you can find expressions such as "Agriculture EU, non-EU" or both.

The products of the Frutek BIO range are ecological foods. This means that it is produced without the use of genetically modified organisms, it is not exposed to ionizing radiation, contains at least 95% of ingredients of agricultural origin from ecological agricultural products and a maximum of 5% of approved additives and other approved substances. In ecological foods, the use of significantly fewer additives is allowed, as in processed foods from conventional production.

The ingredients for ecological products come from organic farming, which emphasizes farming in harmony with nature. It considers the farm an integrated system of land, plants, animals and man and cares about the balance of all elements involved. Ecological products thus contain significantly fewer pesticides and usually achieve better taste ratings. In terms of pathogenic microorganisms, they are also as safe as conventional products.
